I'm buying a 3/8" in. lbs. torque wrench today for my VB I will do next weekend (20-250). Does anyone know the torque I should put on the transmission pan and can I use the in. lbs. wrench to do it or do I also need a ft. lbs. wrench? I serviced my wifes 02 Caravan last weekend and ended doing it twice because it leaked.....

in-lbs

140 in-lbs on DRY gasket !!! Very, very important to keep the new gasket and pan rails free of ATF for proper torque. The ATF will help the gasket squish out if you're not carefull.

Thank you, any RTV needed?

I've never used RTV on a tranmission pan gasket.

No RTV. It will also help the gasket squish out. Dry gasket properly torqued will give many years of leak free service.
