I have very little knowledge about transmissions, so hopefully someone can help me base on my "simple" explanation. I can't find anything that would describe this occurence by searching.
As I was going down the interstate saturday I went to pass a slower car. I was going about 75, and accelerated to 80 to pass. I have never had a problem at these speeds with any kind of govener or anything as my friend suggested that what this was. Once the spedo read 80 there was what I can only describe as a slip, a nice thump and jolt. I don't know if the jolt was more of me releasing the gas right away. The o/d light never came on and there seems to be no other problems. It seems to do this everytime I get near 80-85 on the speedo. Is this normal or another problem? Thanks for the help.

I'm at a loss. How many miles on your transmission? Fluid changes etc ?

117k miles total, so maybe it's coming to then end of its first life. Also I am due for a fluid change at 120k, maybe I should get it done sooner?
