what is the preload/noload adjustment of the transmission cable at the throttle body? should it just be slack, moving only near WOT? or up around 75%? thanks

On the 94 Explorer there are three cables total.
On the throttle body is the throttle cable direclty from the gas pedal
Attached piggyback on this cable is the cable for the cruise control vacuum canister.

The kick down cable for the A4LD automatic transmission goes from the gas pedal directly to the trans through the firewall. The adjuster is at the firewall, this calbe is self adjusting.
Basically you push the grey button down and pull the cable out into the engine compartment. Then you depress the gas pedal to the floor and the kick down cable will adjust itself.

If you feel you have slack in the throttle cable you can remove some of it, search for throttle cable mod for more info on that.

The good answers here never cease to amaze me.

I was doing the TC mod, thats why I wondered! (wanted to make sure it wasn't going to mess it up/too tight)

Though I did get confused on where it was, so you've enlightened me, also makes me worry less about the fact its the CC cable that felt limp/tensionless!
