I have a 98 explorer and if you have not seen my previous crazy questions I am doing some major modifications to it and now I have the engine and trans in but the trans mount it 4 inches too high and needs to go back 4 inches. I searched for post that cover this but found none so I ask has anyone modified the crossmember to move the trans mount?

Are you still using T bars? Or have you gone to another type of spring?

You can contact rockranger for coilover conversion brackets and enforcement gussets. Fit like a glove first try. Have them shipped here to me, I'll coat em all up for a small fee and send them to you. That way you spend time on more important stuff.

You'll need coilover shocks and coils of proper length, limit straps and hardware for fitment. Bolt on except welded gussets of course.

You would be better off fabbing your own trans cross member. It will be easier than modifying OEM. I've made a few of them for my Explorer. One out of 1.5" OD tube, the latest out of 2x3" 3/16" wall square tubing that also acts as a skid plate mount. Both bolted in and could be removed in about five minutes. I always think about taking stuff apart and access to other parts when fabbing new parts. I showed my latest cross member to my transmission guy. He said it would take him maybe 45 minutes to have the trans sitting on the table.

Instead of starting new posts with every question, start a build thread. It's easier to follow.
