I have a 05 4.0 5r55.(4x4).. since begining has had issues at 34,414 ford replaced torque converter due to a driveline vibration while only in overdrive and not off the gas..(out of warranty--hired my own shop+ford for opinion).77,474 check trans light comes on ford says its a possible solenoid but needs torque converter AGAIN... 97,256 light came back on and i had the shop that i paid to put a t-c in it to completely tear down and rebuild....
at 97 the o-d clutches were slipping bad thus the complete teardown btw
truck has never been abused was owned by my grandma never towed a thing nor hauled much in it
the trans still has a vibration, almost a low humm when in overdrive unless i let out totallly.. anyone have this issue before???
i have a 12month 12k warranty im still well within on the rebuild but still this is bs in my opinion...
ANY IMPUT WOULD BE GREAT THANKS IN ADVANCE

With several torque converter changes it is unlikely the torque converter, The 4.0 Explorers have an exhaust hum, vibration or moan, that is often taken for a torque converter problem. It happens when in overdrive, torque converter locked and pulling hard.
Also you should check all the heat shields on the exhaust pipes, they come loose on one end and vibrate, also only in overdrive. Also check the trans heat shields, some times they are to close to the exhaust pipes and vibrate against the pipe.
Ford had vibration dampeners on the exhaust pipes on there Crown Vics with 5.0 engines, which prevented this noise, ford called it an exhaust moan.

I feel the chug as you say but for example the dvd screen in the back shakes and I feel like the truck vibrates more than it should... mom has a 04 same drivetrain and its been ragged out and trans feels great no vibration never had a issue..... its confusing because of all the issues and it was just rebuilt...

Ok after really messing with it I think it may be the rear end making noise as I feel my seat vibrating when driving over 70... at 80 its rougher but I swear I get better mileage at 80

sure do LIMITED SLIP and the 3.73s came with the tow package otherwise you have 3.55's open
i think it may be in the axles its not the trans if i kick it out of od and vibration doesnt change that or t-case
sometimes its worse in the wheel sometimes my seat but kinda both (vibration)

--- manual explicitly says axles shouldnt go underwater and if they do fluid needs to be flushed ASAP...
OPINIONS?????
