Was driving along and went to pass a car, when i let off the gas the u-joint (needed replaced in the first place) being loose did the usual clunk but a lot harder than usual. Went to accelerate at about 60 mph and it wouldnt accelerate until i was down to about 30-40 mph. Pulled into a gas well drive to check fluid and to see if my drive shaft was still there and everything was ok no burnt smell nothing.. went to back out and i had no reverse.

Searched around alot and didnt find anyone with this problem, thought id make a post.
Previous problem i had a check engine code for the trans that said the o/d solenoid was stuck off or something like that. I bought it but havent put it in yet.

I will post more info later.. hopefully someone will have an idea of what couldve broke.

Check the fluid level, and if you have manual 1st gear. If these 2 things check out, then the next step is to check the low/reverse servo tip, band, 2 O ring seals, gaskets, and the reverse modulation valve in the valve body. If these things are OK, then check the shift fork in the transfer case.

Thanks for all that information.. sorry so short earlier but i had to get to work and i wanted to get this out there to get a fairly quick response.

1st thing is 1st, i bought this truck for $600 about 3 months ago, it had a few usual things wrong with it like shackles and u-joints and needed a tune-up extremely bad (didnt appear that they ever did anything to it).

Honestly if its going to be a huge hassle (appears to be), i might sell it to someone cheap for parts or just scrap it because scrap is almost 300/ton where i live. I like the vehicle but this is the second explorer w/ trans issues i've had and i know its expected but at a certain point its just not worth it anymore.

I do have manual 1st and second. If you start in drive it shifts and you can tell it is shifting from a short pause between the gears. It never had o/d before so thats out. 1st gear is completely normal and torquey then when second and third hit its the same rpms between 3500 and 4500 to maintain 30-40 mph.

Fluid level is great did the filter and fluid change this afternoon, nothing unusual in the fluid or at the bottom of the pan, so its most likely one of the things that you posted, sounds like it would be a lot of fun to fix and costly.
