hey im new so i just wanted to say hey first off! ok now to bussnes!
My trans seems to like to stay in 1st. Dont know why, but i think it bay be the governor. If anyone has a step by step you could give me or a link that would be great. also, the cable that goes from the trans to the gas peddle is some what not attached. ( in the whole but when you press the peddle, it just slides threw it.) what kind of spacing should there be and what is it used for. i kinda know what i am doing and a fast learner. (going to Nascar Tech) but cant get my head around this trans. they taught electric and not much on hydro. Please, this is my only vehicle and i need it asap! oh and the person i bought it off of said that he just had it rebuilt and the fluid is already dark. What could be the issue with that? Stall test at 3 grand. Please and thank you!

ok, well i got the governor replaced. Not all that hard. worst part was taking the transfer case off and putting it back on. now i went to a trans shop for the part and they went and adjusted my cable for me and for free! now, for some reason it does not want to go back to first when i come to a stop. and if i dont shift it back down, it starts off in second and shakes like hell. sometimes sounds like its grinding something. please help!

that almost sounds like the same problem that i have. my trany holds 1st and sometimes 2nd on a cold morning ut eventualy shifts after it warms up. i need to use D on the selector not O/D because if i do it will start in second and jump gears really bad. try shifting manual a few times and see if something might just be hanging up. doing that may free a sticky part up.
