Whenever I am at low rpms and high speeds.. say 1500 rpm and 45 mph, i notice a shudder when its time to downshift and/or the TC locks/unlocks. Now I am the third owner of my 97 5.0 awd, the second owner being my mother, and I cant find record anywhere of the trans filter being changed and im at 134K miles. Could old/worn out fluid cause the TC to shudder? There are no slips, no transmission issues, other than this occaisional shudder.

i'd do a tranny flush and then change the filter. tranny fluid should be changed every 24000 miles.

Old trans fluid can definately cause a shudder. I agree with the flush and filter change, but some people here will say they don't agree with the flushing part of it. I've always had good luck with flushes, but that's just my opinion.
