Hello my name is Tricia and I am a.new member who needs help.. I'm not really sure but I believe my transfer case needs to be replaced. It makes a clunky sound lol excuse my terminology. But how do I tell?

Are you sure its not the driveshaft. Does it do it stopping and accelerating.

Welcome Tricia. Have you looked it over much yet? I'd start by carefully inspecting the CV boot/joint of the front drive shaft. That is at the front of the AWD transfer case, to the far left outside. It may not be simple to reach it, but you want to check that the rubber boot there is not torn, there should be no grease slung up around that area. If the boot is torn, that CV joint inside there is toast, and there is a kit to replace that(do not buy the cheapest kit which will be in the $40-$60 range). Dorman has one that used to be about $80, I think that's the best choice if you need that.

If the front drive shaft seems okay, then besides closer listening which is not the safest thing, I'd remove the front drive shaft and see how that affects the driving sounds or feelings(use the parking brake always when that shaft is removed, it will creep on all hills while in park).
