Hello:
I am working on installing the shift mechanism to my new manual t-case after swapping from the electric t-case. How does that knob come off? It looks like another press fit like the 5-speed.
Can anyone confirm?

Thanks

In my Haynes manual it says to heat it up with a blow dryer/heat gun and then drive it off with a soft faced hammer, that being said can't you just install the whole shifter from the inside down?

Sure, but my thinking it will be easier to get all the boot screws in place going from the bottom up.
Thanks for the help, and you are right. Probably easier to mount from the top than deal with the knob....

Problem is, once the knob has been removed it won't stay on unless it is glued or epoxied back on.

Is it the same thing with the Automatic transmission shift knob on the steering column? I know it probably sounds cheesy/tacky, but I'd love to replace it with one of those white Hurst knobs from the classic 5-speeds. I think the Hurst knobs are screw on... so I'd likely have to glue it, correct?
