I have a 1992 Explorer Sport with the Borg Warner transfer case. When it was shipped back from Hawaii it doen't shift in to four low. It has been about a year and now it will not shift into four wheel drive at all. I don't know if it is the computer not giving the command to shift or if it is the electric motor. Can anyone give me directions on how to check the computer modulator or electric motor. I would appreaciate any help.

it is probably the contacts in the electric motor send me your email and i can advise you how to repair....but i think you should post this in another place im new here but i dont think this is the place thefordtech@yahoo.com

Go to this thread and it will give you lots of information that is very helpful. Dead Link Removed
Start with the basics first! Check your fuse in the power distribution box then check to see that you have a good conection at the switch itself. I followed the instructions posted on this message board and removed my shift motor, disassebled it, cleaned it, then re-assembled it. It still didn't work. When I fianally checked the switch, I discovered that when someone swapped out the radio, they neglected to re-connect the wire harness to the switch. It would have saved me alot of time but now I know alot more about how my 4 wheel drive works. Good Luck.

Hey! Welcome to the boards!!
Hmmm.....moved from Hawaii to Rotten Groton CT, only sane person would do that would be a submariner!!! I was on the USS Alexandria (SSN-757) & in CT for 4 years.

I think there is a similiar thread on this board with a write up like Schadman linked, might wanna try a search here. Might find more X specific instructions. Good luck!!
