My Vehicle: 92 Exp E/B, 4-Door with Automatic Push button 4WD. The 4WD is used but not often. I went off road on a construction site just to cycle the transfer case and it worked great. Yesterday I was off road in the woods and I needed the 4WD to get out of a sticky situation and the the vehicle would not go in to 4WD. I tried stopped, and driving slowly and ... Nothing. I finally found another way out. When I did I needed to put the vehicle in first for a moment to power my way up a nasty hill. when I got on to flat ground and put it back in D I heard a chunk like a hammer hitting metal.
Any thoughts? I am wondering if it could be something so simple a a broken control wire (yes I know, Wishful thinking!)
I am afraid to test the 4WD now for fear that I get stuck in 4WD or worse.
Thanks
-Todd
