hey guys this is my first post so im sorry if i don't know a whole lot but here it goes. well i'm considering trading my ranger for 99 explorer but there is a catch. it supposedly wont move because the transfer case is bad but other than that its fine im goin to give it a good look this weekend but does this sound like the problem? if its the tranny it wont be worth it but the transfer case would be fine. thanks in advance guys

So what's your question?

Not being able to drive the vehicle at all before you buy it could be trouble. How will you even know if the tranny shifts OK? What about suspension components, the rest of the drive trane, brakes, engine ect? You will never know what else could be wrong with that truck until it drives down the road.

I'd stay clear, but thats just my .02

that makes since i guess especially since the crazy old hag wants 1500 for it if i dont trade. some people are just plain dumb

If it's a V-6 Explorer, I would be surprised if it was the transfer case. The only possible way the t-case could stop it from driving would be if one of the shafts broke inside, or if the shift fork allowed the low range gears to fall into neutral never-never land. In either case, you're talking about a complete t-case rebuild.
