I bought this 2004 sport trac to tow behind a motorhome. I had the eprom flashed to allow the transfer case to shift into the neutral position. The Ford tech said he is confident the flash worked correctly. When I could not get the TC to shift to neutral using the neutral sequence steps I took it back to the dealer who said the shift motor was bad and Ford no longer sold the replacement. I purchased one from Advance that was supposed to be an exact fit (which could be different from exact match?). Dealer put it on but was still not able to get it to shift to neutral. Dealer gave up. No charge. Now I have a truck with a TC that is stuck somewhere between 2X, 4lo or 4hi. I don't really know because the light no longer works but I do hear a clicking noise that sounds like a relay trying to work in the dash. So I don't know if anyone can help me with this but please try if you have any ideas. First I need to get the truck back to where it knows what position it is in. I don't know if the dealer knew to mark the motor position when he removed it but I hope that is not the problem. Is there a reposition instruction if the position is lost?
