transfer case swap?

i have a 02' mounty, i want an explorer transfer case, low, high, ext.

what am i going to need? transfer case and transfer case control mod?

were there different transfer cases offered in explorers through the different years??
different spline counts?
any info would be great.

i looked into this for a while myself for converting my mounty from 2wd to awd to 4wd...

from what i could gather the tcases will match up but as far as selecting range it will have to be done manually ( ie take off teh shift motor and rig up some sort of manual selector mechanism ) as our mounties dont have 4x4 computers..

also you'd in a sense have to do the brown wire mod ..basically youd have to rig up a 12v line (switched) to the electromagnetic clutch of the tcase to actually engage it ..when the switch is on ..the clutch engages locking the front and rear driveshafts together..if its off ..then they arent locked...you should be able to get into true 2low too if you wanted.
this is all assuming the brown wire carries a 12v signal (it should be )
