transfer case went...need new one

transfer case finally went at 108k...anyone know where i can look for a good priced transfer case? should i look for a rebuilt or a used one? thanks

I hate when I see other peoples mechanicals fail at lower mileage than mine, cause it makes me think my whole powertrain is just gonna crap out all at once lol. I would say check out the junk yards and snag one from there and open it up and see if it looks good. Or you can order a Jasper one. I think they have warranties on theirs.

What happened to your transfercase? Do you have 4WD or AWD?

depends what you have and who will do it.

I've gone two routes, ReMan for $800 ($1200 installed) and a rebuild for $650. . . unless there is something major wrong, cracked case, messed up planetary etc. Rebuild would get my vote. Both were done by Trans and Gear shops. Third option if you can swing it is JY, those vary in price but i'd expect like $250 or so. . .
