whats compatible to a 97 explorer awd all time transfer case? anyone

Comparing the exploded diagrams for that model, the only difference that jumps out is a critical one: The '97 case uses a speedo drive gear on the rear output, while the 98-01 does not. Without that gear, your speedometer won't work.

Otherwise they appear virtually identical.

You likely need a 97 case...
