My transmision has been missing when shifting up and doing a downshift clunk when going into 1st. It was doing this a little at about 60,000 miles. Now at 70,000 its doing it pretty often. The passengers even noticed the downshift clunk because it sort of shakes the car and its pretty loud. It happens at around 10-25. The miss usually happens at about 45+ i supose. Say im cruising at about 2.8 rpm and its about to shift up. Sometimes the rpms willl go up to 5,000 rpm or so and sit there for a second or two til the transmision shifts. Then at highway crusing speeds every few mins or so you hear a squeak. It sounds like its coming from the transmision. Its not a suspension problem or anything like that. Does anybody know anything about this. The car is still 100% driveable and has an extended warranty. It just doesnt feel too reliable anymore. Like it could just go out at any minute.

Too bad you didn't have it repaired when it first started acting up. It's probably going to be expensive to replace.

Will the warranty cover the complete repair bill?

I basically have a bumper to bumper. With a 50 dollar deductible. They say that if it is a failure that they will replace it. Im not sure if that means if it just completely stops working or if that means it isnt working properly. Anybody here with a ford extended warranty know what they mean.

I finally broke down and traded my explorer for a focus. LoL yeah right. But thats the rental that they gave me when i took it in to check the trans. Turns out the transmision needed a new solenoid. He said it was a 500 dollar part and i can only imagine what the price would be after all the fees and such. Luckily i have the extended warranty so their going to fix it for 50 bucks then check out the rest of the things on my very long list of problems.
