Okay, I've got my new 4.0 in and everything but the HVAC fan and A/C itself is hooked up. I crank it up and it sounds good. Now I have a few questions.

1. How long should it take for the tranny to build up pressure to operate? I sat there running for a good 5 if not 10 minutes, foot on the brake and moving through all of the gears and nothing, I never moved.

2. Could I have my cooling lines reversed? (unfortunately, I did'nt pay attention when removing them) A transmission guy told me to route the bottom line up to the radiator and the top line to the cooler. I've asked others and they said it didn't matter. Is this an issue?

3. Seperately, how long should it take to blow all the antifreeze out of my exhaust from when I blew my head gaskets on the old engine? I'm filling up the neighborhood with white smoke.

it will do not think it matters if the cooling lines are switched however if you think you messed them up just switch them, check to make sure you have the right amount of fluid and that the shift linkage is set right. as far as the white smoke it shouldent take too long did you use quality gaskets and tighten it properly. if you can get it moving try just driving it hard

Sounds like low fluid in the tranny. If you changed the filter in the transmission, did you forget to put on the O rings? This sounds like what happens when the O rings are left off or the filter drops down. Pump sucks air till the fluid heats up and expands.

yeah, I just talked with the transmission guy I know again. I guess I was wrong in doing this, but I put in only 7 qts and had planned on "topping off" after I got it going, apparently that's not enough to get pressure up. All my O-rings and filter are fine though and my lines are apparently good the way they are.

thanks for the input. I appreciate it, I hope to finally get back on the road tonight. I've been w/o the x for 3 months now!
