For those folks who are not running an independant transmission filter yet , here is a good deal on a quality budget filter. My company uses these on our underwater hydraulic power units and they are good.Remote filter.

Does it come with the rubber hoses and a fitting for a temp gauge? Would Fram have something that would fit that?

Most of these hydraulic filters

Have a very large center mounting hole that you won't find on off the shelf oil filters, maybe diesel. Seems pretty cheap with a filter compared to just the $12 filter mount for an oil filter. But, you will spend extra for the threaded adaptors to get it down to a normal hose size. How much are the replacement filters? I like the cheap $2 Walmart filters because they are reported to have a lower bypass pressure. At least there are many to select from. So it may be pay now or pay later. There are always fun things to check out at your local Tractor Supply.

"So it may be pay now or pay later."

Hmmm... figure that much myself.

You must think me an idiot OPERA.

That filter comes with both sizes of center adapters and will take the PH/8 common filters. The threaded adapters with barbs are 4 dollars for two at Lowes. I generally only suggest things on this board I would or do use myself. If you would have looked at the add you would have seen that even thier brand filters were only 5 bucks. And there mounting method is very conveneint.

Aren't we testy today!

Yes I did look. Nowhere does it say it is adaptable to different filters. Seems like something worthwhile to mention. And the filters are $6. Some here are happy paying $10 for a filter. If you were stuck buying that filter it could be a consideration.

Sorry OPERA!

Pissy day. Ya they are decent, and if you look real close at the top and side of the base they are drilled and tapped to mount either way. I had trouble with the traditional side stand off mount, It just took to much room. It would have been easier with these. The flow rate on our hydraulic units is 7 GPM. And if I remember right from a previous thead the flow rate on our trans. is less than 2.5.
