Transmission interchangibility

Can the auto in a 2000 4 door explorer with a SOHC be used as a straight swap for a 1997 Ltd with a SOHC?

If the ltd is a v8 then no? If there both v8 4.6 than yes it will bolt up but you need to see if they are the same trans and will work withe the ECM .

They are both SOHC 4.0 as it says in the first post.
