Hi there everyone! 
My husband and I just bought a 1998 Ford Explorer Automatic AWD V8 Eddie Bauer and last week it started to slip a little when we would go to slow down. Then the Overdrive light seemed to flash, so we had the Autozone guy check the codes and he said they were all old codes- and cleared them before we could get a look.
When I went to leave for work this morning- she was fine for about 2 miles when, after I stopped at the light, I tried to accelerate and it did very slowly up to about 20 miles per hour and then I felt a mild shutter/shake and then it felt like there was suddenly no gear engaged. I would press on the gas and the engine would rev, but the wheels weren't getting the power.
I pulled over and shut it off, then upon restart, I would have the ability to go for about a half a mile (slowly,<20mph) and it would shake and then I would lose it again.
Any thoughts out there on what it might be?
Any help is hugely appreciated!!!!!
