Here's a strange one for you . I had the Customer Satisfaction Program "20N07" done to my truck Sept 2021. Comes with two year warranty according to service advisor. 2 days ago the transmission bolt that mounts to motor broke in half. Which in turn damaged all motor mounts, which dropped the engine. It damaged the belts, ac compressor, all the motor mounts, that they can see so far, giving a $2600 quote to fix just that. According to the dealer that did the transmission "recall", they wont cover it, unless it was a one time use bolt, which they say it wasn't. So the dealer where it is at now is awaiting my response. I dont know what to do, because in my mind if you tore down transmission and removed said bolt, reinstalled said bolt and said bolt was where the failure originated, it should be covered. Maybe the bolt was cross threaded I don't know, But also they installed it 1 year ago, so why did it fail now and not then? If anyone can lend some insight or some steps to takei would appreciate it greatly. i also have video of them doing the diagnosis if that helps.

I believe this is the first such incident to be posted here. Since this happened after the work was done a year ago I doubt that there would be much that can be done about it from a legal or reimbursement argument. It would seem that any implied warranty period would have expired according to what I've read about 20N07 and 20B27. It could just be a failure of the bolt and nothing more. :dunno: If it were me, I'd ask them for the bolt.
You could always try to open a case with Ford to seek coverage or partial coverage of the cost. Good luck.

Perhaps it depends on the dealership, but I was under the impression some work is warrantied for two years. In your particular case, as Peter said, I would ask for the bolt and all related parts. After I went to a dealership for the exhaust fix all of the sudden, I had an actuator problem, why, because they maxed them out, never had one before and it caused me lots of time to trouble shoot and repair. I also, once had a case where Ford did a major repair that did not fix the problem so I asked for all parts because I came to find out it was $20 sensor that they discovered after the major repair. I met with the guy that second in command at the dealership and they refunded me about $2k, that was back in about 2004. Again, data points that make me not trust all shops nor dealerships. Like anything else, some are good and some not so good.

The dealership did say it was a 2 year warranty. Problem is , they don't wont to honor it. I am just gonna escalate it to ford and see what becomes of it.

I would definitely escalate it, because if they did remove and put the bolt back in, you have a strong case IMO.

Just curious as to what work was done. Perhaps they are attempting to say that the bolt was outside of the actual work that was performed and therefore not covered.

DM26 I am with ya. I would press hard and ask to talk to the Ford Rep for that dealer. Ford did the transmission recall and repair and now suddenly ALL this damage is because of an issue that originated with said bolt. Although I can see some of the dealers side but not enough to be truthful. I had same issue with having an Alternator replaced. when I brought it home ( 45 minute drive) I had smoke pouring from under the hood. An oil line on a turbo was leaking and spraying oil everywhere.. it was on the turbo along same side as the alternator. they told me it was because the line was corroded and rusted and what caused it to break. I argued long enough to get the bill split minus the flatbed tow fee. SO darn frustrating.

According to 20N07, it looks like replacing the torque converter so my (educated) guess is that the trans mount bolt would have been removed.

Even more reason they should pay.. friggen stealerships piss me off.

I thank all of you for brainstorming on this. i believe the bolt was over torqued. but its gonna be me against them. if they removed the trans i would have to believe they removed the bolt. I am on my way there now to see how much further i can get with them

Remember the final word on any warranty decision belongs to Ford, not the dealership.
