I own a 94 Explorer XLT. I have noticed a noise everytime I engage and dis engage my transmission. The noise is especially noticeable when you change the transmission from drive then to reverse. I had my mechanic check things out when I first noticed it. I had him check my U joints and he said that they were all in good shape. He also said my transmission was fine. But he did still hear the noise. He claimed it to be drive train slack and that the only way for me to correct it was to get a whole new drive train and that it wouldn't be worth doing. He also said that Fords are common for making those noises.
Is this normal for the A4LD?
If so why does it do this?
If not what can I do to fix this problem and what do you think is causing it?
Thanks!
