Hi, when I'm driving and push on the brake a warning light pops up "transmission not in park" and the auto hold brake is not working either. Does anyone no what could be causing this? It is driving fine, other then the warning light. It's a 2023 Ford Explorer XLT with 19k miles.

Welcome to the Forum.
You stated that when driving and you go to brake, the "transmission not in park" warning comes ON?
Is that correct or did you mean when you're stopped and go to put the transmission into Park with the foot on the brake that this happens?
Also, there is an 'Auto Hold' feature that prevents the vehicle from rolling back when driving and there is the Auto Parking Brake when you shift to Park. Are you referring to the first or second feature? The 'Auto Hold' feature can be turned ON or OFF in the settings.
You are still within the warranty period so it may be best to take it to the dealer.

Mine has this issue also - it only pops up when i'm slowing down to a stop. I have the auto hold feature that allows me to take my foot off the brake when i'm stopped and stay in place while in Drive. That feature doesn't work and I get this message. is this a sensor error, or maybe something with the computer?

Do you still get that message if you turn Auto Hold feature OFF, even though it's not working? I don't use that feature, finding it too intrusive. Also, if you use it when sitting in a line of traffic, I don't believe the brake lights are ON to indicate that you're stopped. Have you checked to see if there are any trouble codes set?

Hey Peter, yeah if I turn it off the message still appears, and then if I attempt to turn it back on it says:
"Auto Hold
Close Door and Fasten Seat Belt to Enable"
I haven't checked for any trouble codes cause I don't have a code reader. I took it to the shop and they reset the electrical system which I guess fixed it for them but by the time it got back to me the message was back up, so thought I'd see if anyone has had this issue themselves and knew a good fix.

Thanks for the reply. I've read that Autozone will check for codes for free if that's an option.
Good luck, and please keep us updated if you get it fixed. Thanks.

Peter
