- 1997 XLT V8
Hi,
I have a 1997 Ford Explorer XLT 5.0 V8 (automatic). On my way home from work tonight, I noticed that the engine was not shifting properly. As I sped up to about 50-55mph the rpms continued to rise to about 4000 almost as if the engine was about to explode.
Does this mean my transmission is shot (or going) or could it be something else?
Thanks in advance for your help.
