Transmission problem....

Riding along the other morning in my 95ex and the trans drops out of overdrive so I pull over. I check the fluid level and all is good there. Put truck in drive and nothing , put it in reverse and slight tug backwards but no real movement. Put it all the way in 1 and we moving , I shift to 2 and still moving go into overdrive it shifts but after a few seconds it drops out of overdrive and engine just revves take foot of gas then back on gas it shifts back into od and good to go as long as im moving . I did this routine all the way back home. Now 2 shops without even dropping the pan say I need a complete rebuild. Does a 1500 rebuild sound right to yall or could it just be a solinoid or valve body replacement and they trying to upsale me a rebuild?

No its broke, 1500 is not bad just as long as they completely rebuild it with a converter.

Thanks , I just found a trans shop that will rebuild it for 1200 if I drop the whole truck off or 750 if I just drop off the trans.

An on bench rebuild for me cost 400 bucks, and I got what I payed for...better to just go with the better stuff. Ends up kicking your tail in the long run and wasting time/money/recources/ect
