I have noticed my explorer doesnt shift smoothy and sometimes in almost seems and sounds like it should shift and it doesnt its strange. My question is with 146,900 miles should i clean my transmission fluid? now take a few things in to consideration.
1. Im well aware that changing the fluid and cleaning it will most likely lead to leaks.

2. If i dont change it or clean it, my transmission could blow or end up costing me more than getting a leak fixed would.

3. If i add an intake will that mess up my transmission even further without changing due to the air and fuel ratio messing up the stock ecu timings in shifts and etc/ I had a lot of work done to my old accord and i ended up blowing my transmission due to increased induction.

So what should i do?
I really think it needs to be cleaned back to new and make add something that will seal leaks so it shifts right. anyone and everyone please feel free to add in there personal experiences and knowledge. Thanks!

Automatic transmissions are very sensitive to dirt building up, and creating problems. Burned fluid from a previous over heat situation doesn't do the job that it should. Replace your fluid, and filter at least every 30K miles.

Even tho i have all those miles on a transmission that has never had a transmission clean and flush you think i should change it? and every 30k after that i need to change it?
