1999 Ford Explorer
Hello all, Im having issues wiht my 1999 automatic Explorer and Im hoping someone can help me.

Its started one day just not wanting to shift and speed up on the highway and progressively got worse. I start it now and it doesnt even do anything when put into drive. I will most times have to put it into 1st gear and sit for a good couple of minutes and slowly rev up the engine or not touch it and wait for it to pop into 1st gear, then I can put it in drive and its fine, no slipping, grinding, nothing, until I turn the car off again. The "O/D off" light is blinking randomly also. Ive had the main seal/gasket changed and also the filter twice, there is no build up or gunk. Very minor metal shavings were found on the magnet in the pan is what I was told. I had a scan done on it and the only code that came back was regarding a torque sylinoid being stuck in a position. I also had a transmission flush done at jiffy lube and that is when it seemed to get slowly worse. Its only doing this with Drive and the other gears, it has no issue going right into reverse.

Any suggestions? Thank you!

There is nothing short of rebuilding this transmission that is going to help. The forward clutch has most likely failed.
