Sup Explorers!!!:D
My first post. I just found this site and I love it. I just moved here (Dallas), from FL and am looking for fun things and people. Please give any advise you have.
My transmission '96 Sport, stock, is making a funny noise. When it is in gear and at a light or stopped with my brakes on, I can feel something rattling right under my feet. Its a quick thud, thud, thud, thud. The noise and vibration stop as soon as I give it gas. It shifts on time, with no slipping. What could be causing this?
Thanks,
Jerry

my auto trans makes someone a loud noise when changing gears... esp from park to reverse... also when i stop and start going again it will make the same clunk.. almost like a really hard shift... i think that part might be my brakes letter off though, they are most likely VERY dirty and need replaced

trany probs

It sounds like it could be your U joint. I have almost no tech experience, but that sounds like you might want to have it looked at.
Jer

i check my u bolts every so often :), the sound seems to come from thefront though.... either the front brakes or the transmission

If you are looking for a good transmission shop, in the Dallas area, I would recommend looking into Eagle Transmission shop. They do good work, and are good about giving accurate quotes. I would strongly recommend this place. They have a location in Plano and one in Garland. At least those are the locations that I know of. Let me know what specific are you are in in Dallas and I will find that location nearest you.

Cool. I am near Audalia, and Kingsly. I think Garland is pretty close to here, maybe 15-20 minutes. I'm still working on getting my bearings straight, its a big city and I've only driven a couple of days. My tranny went bad on the move out, and now its speaking up! I will look them check eagle out in the phone book. Did you have work done there?

Here you go:

EAGLE TRANSMISSIONS & AIR COND
1209 COIT RD
PLANO, TX 75075-7761
972-596-3600 (Business)

Yes he has had work there. The shop is spotless, and they dont hide anything. Go to the one in Plano if you can. They will do my next tranny

Either location is good, but like Trckmagik, I would recommend the one in Plano.

Eagle

Thanks. I will call them. (Plano) Do you have a contact their?

The guy that I dealt with is the Manager and his name is Andy Adams. The phone number there is 972-596-3600. They'll take care of you if you go to that one!

Eagle

Thanks guys. I spoke with Andy Adams. He will look at it today. Thanks!

No problem!

Muchas gracias

Hey guys...wendt to Eagle and Andy said, and I quote..."I would love to sell you a new transmission, but I can't. It doesn't need it.
He sent me to his engine guy, Brad @ The Engine shop on Plano PKWY...Props to these guys. It turned out my engine pulley tensioner and my $motor mount$ had gone bad. $550 dollors later my truck is running well again. I would highly recommend them to anyone in the group, or elsewhere. Thanks for all your help.
Jerry
'96 Sport;) My Ford is happy again.

Yikes! $550! Most of that is labor, those motor mounts can be a bi&$% to get too.....

I'm in the wrong business...............

Eagle Transmission is one of the best, most honest shops I have been too. Thus the reason why my family and I have been using them for a few years now. Like I said in previous post's, I would recommend them to anyone.
