hey guys,
the question is ....is there any difference in the transmission from a ohv engine and a ohc engine?

will any 5r55e bolt up to either engine?

reason i ask is i need a trans for my 2000 4.0 ohv.i found a low mile 2001 trans but not yet sure what engine it came off.

being a 2001 trans more n likely it came off a overhead cam engine .would it bolt right up to my overhead valve engine??

thanks

the manual trans from the sohc motor will bolt up to the OHV motor, there is an extra bolt hole that will not be used, but other than that it bolts right up, i imagine someone else will post and make sure, i dont know a whole lot about the auto's haha, but as far as bolting up, it should

i forgot to mention is an auto.

so a 5r55e is a 5r55e and will bolt right up to either motor then?

i found a 87,000 mile trans for 350.00 ,gonna try and get it for 3bills and go get it .

yes it should work then. i guess they didnt make any changes to the tranny when they changed to the sohc. 350 is a good deal and 87K aint bad, change the fluid / filter and youll have a good tranny for a while. friend of mine went to my local junk yard last year to get an auto tranny for his explorer....600 bucks.... id jump all over that one for 350 haha

yeah most the yards here want 5-600.00 dollars and they have over 100k on them.
found this on craigslist .thanks guys ...guess i,ll buy this one ,but i gotta make a drive for it .

good news ..its not that far from me .30 minute ride and its mine .we are to get more snow saturday though .

hey, when i go get this trans where will the model number be on it ??i wont know by just looking at it so i need to know where to look to identify it .
thanks

bump....

picking up sunday .anyone help me with id on this trans .will it be stamped 5r55e somewhere?

well i bought the transmission.350.00 ,it came with the transfer case still attached too. so i,ll wind up with an extra transfer case .

haha, sell the t-case on craigslist and you could get most of your 350 back....

do ya think so?what are they worth?i just dropped the trans off,my mechanic is going to unbolt it and just install the transmission ,so i will wind up with the lower mileage transfer case left over .mine works fine and i have hardly used it so......

anyway what you think the value is?

I bought a used BW 4405 tcase here in MN for $125 a couple years back. I've seen them from $75 to $150 now. If you plan to keep your explorer for a while, it might not be a bad idea to keep one as a spare, as they have had issues with wearing out.

hey ...will this 2001 trans go right in my 2000??i got some conflicting reports.something about a sensor?
