Hello guys, this is my first post and I scrolled through some threads but would like to ask a stupid question anyway...

I have a 98 explorer xlt with 227,000. Used mobil 1 synthetic since 24,000, had the timing chain tensioners done at 125,000, so the motor is still very strong, not burning oil and pulling loads fine.

The tranny is acting up a bit now, stumbles into 4 and 5th gear a little , ya know a slight shudder. I had the tranny flushed at 124,000 , never had a problem till now...The truck is stalling at slow down speeds, like when I go from 50 to 20mph or lower..it stalls, not every time though. Well the odometer is not working and the check engine light is on now??

Any thoughts on the next step?Have the code read? maybe a flush to the tranny..not sure where to start. The truck still runs good I'd like to keep it 2 more years.. Thanks ahead Chris

welcome.
if the cel is on, get the codes would be the first step.
dont spend money flushing it yet, try to find out the problem first. because if you end up needing a new tranny, then your just wasting money on a flush.

I agree with rileyrs- have the codes run, and bring them back here so we can have a look. No sense in spending money you don't have to...
