I've got a 03 Explorer, 4.6, 78k miles.
When I hit the brakes hard at red light, upon stopping the truck acts as if it's in neutral. There is a delay before transmission gets engaged as engines revs up and down for a couple second. Eventually, tranny catches suddenly and shifts into gear.
3- 4 months ago had AAMCO to replace the fluid.
Any thoughts.

Sounds like it is low on fluid, there is a special procedure for checking fluid level.

I agree that it sounds like it's low on fluid. Did they replace the filter when they replaced the fluid?
Yes, filter has been replaced as well.
I guess, I have to take it back to AAMCO to see what is going on.

Mine does this sometimes on turns. Had it flushed recently at the dealer. Did it before, does it after.
