Hey all, after I had a performance exhaust put on my 98 sport i have had this stuttering when ever im starting from a dead stop foward and in reverse, but only when the clutch is being pressed, would this be from losing back pressure or could it be from a bad clutch/transmission? also just recently when ever i press down on the gas in 3rd, 4th, or 5th gear the rpm will go up like i was pressing the clutch. When i let off of the gas a little, it wil go right back to normal, this is a pain when im trying to go up hills, or pass on the highway. Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Sure sounds like you're describing a fried clutch. Especially the part about the engine revving up when you hit the gas with the clutch pedal released. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news:(

thanks rick

i appreciate the quick response, now i am faced with a very tough decision that i was not prepared for, Get a new truck or repair this one? At this time I would have to replace the clutch which is about $1000 and i know that my brake lines are starting to rust, so i would have to replace them, that would be pushing 850-900...in your personal opinion would it be worth it for me to replace these parts and have a 10 year old truck that is paid off or should I get a newer vehicle and have payments? I am not too sure as to what I should do.
