Transmission Swap?

Of course I will ask if you have matching year trucks 4x4 and 4x2, can you swap a 4x4 tranny into a 4x2? (I believe I have read that to do so you need to replace the shaft. Also, I have heard many mention you can swap the mustang transmission (4.6), you will in turn need a custom drive shaft made? If so, anyone know the measurements? what years if applicable?

you can just make sure the diff is the same. i just took my engine and 4x4 tranny out of 95 ex and put it in my new 95 ex 4x2 will soon make it 4x4. but will need to change drive shaft since its shorter on 4x4.
