I posted this in the new member area as well, but I thought this might prove to be the better place to post this question.

Sorry to say, that I am in need of some help right away. I have a 1991 Explorer XLT with around 115k miles on it. I recently swapped out the transmission fluid. Everything went about as well as could be expected. However, since the swap, I no longer have OD. All the other gears shift smoothly, but it just doesn't shift into OD. I was told this could be caused by loose wires or a broken solenoid inside the pan.

My question is this: Has anyone had this problem also or any experience with transmissions that could give me some advice?

I really appreciate any help that I could get and I will try to contribute to other members as well.

Thanks everyone!

Welcome to this forum! Check your 3 prong plug for around 25-40 ohms on both solenoids. Maybe it got unplugged as somebody had suggested. Try a band adjustment too. There are other factors involved with OD engagement such as sensor inputs. The TPS, BOO switch, and VSS tell the PCM when to apply (or not apply) a ground to the 3-4 shift (overdrive) solenoid. Some other things could throw off the PCM, such as a bad ground signal (or lack of a proper ground signal)from LED taillight bulbs could affect the TCC solenoid from engaging. Check for a blown fuse too.
