With all the Trans issues out there i came across this site. Dunno if anyone has tried them or not but figured i'd post the link incase anyone is looking in junkyards.

This is not by anyway saying they are good or bad just another site that might be a lil more cost effective then dealing with dealerships.

Just looked some more at the site looks like they have a bunch of parts other than just trans. most appered used though.

Unless I was selling my Ex the next day I would never put a used tranny in it. The tranny is probably the cause some of these 3rd gens are in the bone yard. Not if but when she goes, I am going new, with the longest warranty they offer. 116,595 knocking on wood every day.

Please tell us, if you mean "new" as in "brand-new", where you will obtain the brand-new transmission?

Even Ford will not sell a brand-new transmission (at least not to the public, they told me). imp

I guess even the dealer has them rebuilt then, if you are correct. I always made the assumption the dealer gave you new, not a rebuilt. Fill me in what parts would they reuse. Maybe just the housing. I hope. I remember getting a quote from a shop once, for my 96 caddy and they asked if I wanted new or rebuilt. But they weren't to trustworthy.

Ford Parts Department told me they cannot buy new transmissions from Ford. The reasoning on Ford's part might be: brand new major components are ordered and supplied in quantities by factories outside the Assembly Plant; as such, production numbers of new assembled vehicles are pretty much predictable, and ship/receive dates and quantities are therefore quite "tight". To inventory brand new transmission assemblies, for example, with the aim of selling them for replacement purposes, would be a pretty "iffy" venture. Also likely is the fact that failed, rebuildable units can be had for much less per-unit cost.

The manufacturing facilities mentioned may be Ford-owned and operated, even though located overseas, or out-and-out suppliers who manufacture complex assemblies for Ford, as a supplier, and may supply other manufacturers, as well. A good example would be the Cologne, Germany, engine plant, which produces the 4.0L SOHC engines Ford uses; this plant I believe Ford owns. On the other hand, the automatic transmissions, at least the 5R55S/W, are made in France.

"Global Economy", don'tcha know? German labor, French labor, Americans out of work, expected to buy the products here anyway, time-pay, only "$389 per month". None of us underlings like it, right? imp

Well, that would explain why my tranny is gutless...I wouldn't want to take my tranny into battle like I wouldn't want to take a....never mind....

Tranny's are easy to find in France.

Just not in a neighborhood you'd want to be.:D

What did the Jasper cost and how much did you pay for installation?

$2541, for trans, $500 for install. But, the transmission crossmember mount, was shot. They replaced it, and replaced F & R diff, lube as well. So, the labor was $800.

Well, actually, I forgot to mention that there is an $800 core exchange. So, if you already have the transmission out, and ready when they deliver(which, delivery is free, btw), they will only charge you the $2541. Otherwise, they will charge you for the core, but refund it when they recieve your old trans.

3Yr/100,000 mi warranty, good nationwide.

Here's the latest update on my findings for Re-Man trannies.

Moveras - $1,620

All Trans - $1,900

ETE - $2,145

I don't worry about the core deposit which ranges from $450 to $750 as this is fully refundable. The quote of installation is $400. 6% sales tax on everything on top of quoted prices.

The other option is a local "rebuild" for $1,800. I'm a bit torn on that idea as the warranty quoted is usually only one year. Sometimes I get a 3 year warranty answer but it is only a local warranty. If you break down far from home you are outta luck. Even with an ATRA member I was told that when a tranny comes in for repair from some other ATRA member's rebuild they'll tell them the service backup will be 2 or 3 weeks. Very low priority is given to ATRA rebuilds from another member. I'm most likely going with an ETE tranny. That means $2,698 versus a local "rebuild" for $1,908. So, $790 more but more likely a much better tranny because it is remanufactured not just spot rebuilt.

Just make sure that whatever transmission you pick has the servo-bore repair done. That means it is bored out and re-sleeved. If you don't then be prepared to replace it again sooner rather than later.
