Trip/ODO Display Switching Back and Forth

OK, this is NOT a serious issue, but I cant figure out why it is happening.

My 04 XLT has the trip/ODO/ compass all in the same display (lower right corner of the cluster) I DO NOT have the whole big message center thing.

About once a week, sometimes more often, I start it up and look down to see the display has changed from Trip to ODO. I will change it back to Trip and everything will be fine. BUT without fail it WILL CHANGE BACK to ODO on its OWN!!!!

I have never seen it go from ODO to trip on its own, though

No other weird elec. problems, I thought about a weak battery causing it to lose memory, but the battery tests good and I dont lose presets or clock.

I am the only person who drives this truck, no one else ever.

In summary, WTF!?!?!?

I have had the same problem for a year now, It all started after the dealer reprogramed the X. they told me it was not a big deal and didn't mean any thing. Ever since i have been getting an avg of 13 mpg with a 4.0L.

Well, I guess I'll have to chalk this one up to just another weird explorer quirk.

Same thing here with my 04. Haven't figured out why it does it. Slightly annoying but I can deal with it.

Well looks like I'm the 5th '04 with the same quirk.
