2002 eddie bauer
I have a 2002 eddie bauer with 64,000 miles. We purchased used 7 months ago. We had a concern about the noise coming from convertor and finally 7 months later it is being addressed. Has anyone else had this problem? We heard there was a technical bulletin issued regarding this concern. Thank you!

Yes I had the noise in the tqv and it was replaced under warranty. It made a loud and distinct sound. My local mechanic id'd it and I told the dealer to address it. Yes I think there is a bulletin on it. Once that sound went away I was able to concentrate on the noise from the rear axle and the rear bearings.

What is the noise? Is it a high pitched noise?

I ask because my old transmission made a high pitched (kind of like a screeching) sound but I never bothered to figure out exactly what was causing that noise cauz it had other problems (shift flare) so I replaced it anyway. The noise came on as soon as the engine was started (transmission in Neutral and Park) so probably something "upstream" ;) on the driveline.

PS: Ive moved this thread to the Transmission and Transfer Cases section

No, mine was more of a rattling noise.

I had this problem on my 02 EB. The sound was a rattle from the converter, almost sounded like a diesel engine clattering. I had the converter replaced under warranty and it's been good ever since...

I too had a rattle coming from the TQ in my 02 V8 X. Had replaced under warranty. No problems since. There is a TSB for this, check it out.
