Over to New Brunswick 2 weeks ago. Came out from shopping, truck would crank but not start. Thought someone must have stole my gas. Still half tank. Thought someone may have bumped the truck, checked the fuel switch, fine. Called brother in law, mechanic, Reset doors for alarm, still no crank with one key but crank with second key.Still no go. Alarm still flashing quickly Tow truck to P.E.I. Ford dealer scanned for 2 hours, couldnt find problem, They have now sent for a $860.00 processor from the factory. PLEASE did anyone else have this problem!!! Part still not in. Please reply.

With the Key in and switched to on, is the alarm lite flashing?

yes with the key on

I had the same problem. The security system thinks its a fake key.
They had to replace the pickup in the steering column. About $300 us.
I was able to start the truck however. I got pissed off on day when it wouldn't start and slammed the tilt wheel up. When I tried it, it started.
You may want to give it a try. Turn it off, slam the tilt down had and turn it back on, see if the lite flashes. It wont start if its flashing, I was towed 3 times before I noticed this, and every time it got back to the dealer it would start and they would say nothing was wrong. So give it a try, slam the thing up hard and down, any combo may work, if you get it to start DON'T MOVE THE TILT.

Good luck and let me know.

Thanks Bob going to Summerside tomorrow I'll try that!!!

Thanks Bob going to Summerside tomorrow I'll try that!!!

How close is that to Eagle River,WI ? That's about as far north as I get.

Anyway, I'm no expert on the Ford Passive Anti-Theft System (PATS) although you may be by the time your finished. Search around the forums here under PATS and you'll find plenty of info. I did find some of my old research from when mine went bad and it may be of some help.

This is from some Ford service article and the link to it.

It may be the keys, it may be the module in the column who knows, the bottom line is Ignition on and Light Flashing it will not start.

another member had a similar problem (maybe)

they had another RFID tag on the keychain - think it was a paypass thing.
When the PATS system queried the key, both RFID tags replied - the key and the paypass, they system got confused and wouldn't start (thought it was an invalid key).

Try with the key only with nothing else closeby.

The pickup (transceiver) in the column may be faulty as mentioned in one of the previous posts. I wouldn't think the processor is failed yet - usually you would trouble shoot down the chain.
- check to see if there are keys programmed into the processor / how many keys
- attempt to read keys

The fast flash indicates the processor is working, but not seeing a valid key

good luck, and post what fixed problem for others

edit:
BTW, good troubleshooting skills to try and figure out what may have been wrong, most people don't even get that far.....just crank and crank....and hope for magic.
