Truck runs much slower with AC on

Not a huge deal... just a bit of an annoyance. With the AC off, the truck is nice and peppy (for what it is). With the AC blaring... forget it. It "feels" like about 50% of the power is lost.

Is it normal to lose THAT much power? Are there any "easy" things I can check?

A/C = 20 rwhp

Just for fun I hardwired the A/C compressor to stay on at WOT to see how much rwhp I lost. It was 20 of my stock 150 rwhp.
