Hi guys,
2002 Ex XLT 4.0 The truck will crank and if you hold the gas pedal it will stay running. The second that you let off the gas, it dies. Any ideas on what this could be. I need help on this issue ASAP. Thanks for any and all suggestions.
Chad

Thank you for the response. This is what everyone else seems to think also. Is this an easy fix?

Before replacing anything I would take a good look at all your vacuum lines and make sure none have popped off. A big vacuum leak could cause the same problem.

Thanks Rick. I will check that first.

I have gotten it to crank and stay running. I dont know why but it is. You can tell that there is still an issue with the motor wanting to bog down. My next question is... Will it hurt anything to drive it in this condition? I really need to get kids to school and get myself to work without bugging anyone for a ride. Thanks again guys!!:salute:

Can you hear the fuel pump running if it is loud your fuel pump maybe going out.

The fuel pump sounds like it always did when you turn the key into the on position. When I crank it up it seems to have trouble finding a good idle. Kind of like its trying to bog down but at the last moment it catches a good breath and is fine. I just do not want a domino effect by running it in this condition. Whattya think?

This may sound a little out there but it maybe your mass air flow senseor has gunk on it. Any easy way to clean this is take it out and soak it in denatured alchol and then clean it with a q-tip. by the way how many miles are on it. Whens the last time you checked plugs?

Cleaned the MAF 1 month ago. The plugs were changed last year with OEM plugs and wires. I have bought a new IAC valve and am replacing it tonight. I will let you guys know how it goes later on. Wish me luck.

You can start the car and tap on the IAC and see if the idle straitens out, sometimes that works.

It was the IAC. Thanks fellas for all your help.:salute:
