Hi all,
Hoping this is the correct forum.
Someone hit my Explorer in the parking lot. I was told by the adjuster there is metal behind the rear quarter panel that is most likely bent. I believe you have to remove the inside cargo panel to get to it. Does anyone have directions to remove that? It’s on the left rear side. I’m assuming I can’t see anything by removing that plastic rear cover over the tire? Thank you for your replies

Welcome to the Forum Jay.
Too bad that had to be your first post. There are members who have removed that inside panel for different reasons. Hopefully they or some other knowledgeable person will come along.

Peter

Thanks for the reply Peter. Someone hit me in a parking lot and didn’t leave a note or anything. The cargo panel is probably easy to remove but I like to be sure before I attempt to remove it (so I don’t break anything)

Modern interior panels are held in place mostly by plastic plugs that release when pulled hard enough, you just have to find their hidden location behind the panel. Also seat belt mounts, and sometimes screws, a quick google search should get you the info you need.
It looks like an 18 wheeler trailer hit the side of your car when turning. The part on the back of the trailer that keeps cars from going under the back if the trailer gets rear-ended.

First and foremost why do YOU want to go inside there?

Most ( I said *most* ) adjusters wear velcro shoes for a reason. Don't trust them. I don't think the damage goes much beyond the outer quarter panel. Maybe a little bit in the wheelhouse, but I don't think even that.
That said that damage is pretty significant. It could be repaired, it might be replaced. I am talking to some folks in Philly seeing if I can find a quality place for you. Give me a day or two.
