So that is only 1.25" in the rear? Looks a lot bigger. Or does Truxxx offers bigger than 2" front, 1.25 rear.

Hi I too have a '06 Ford Explorer out here in the U.A.E, wanted to know if there was any difference in the drive..cos the X is a sweet ride already.. does it change anything ? what is the cost of shipping the lift kits ?

you will find pics of my ride here
(lost photo)

Yeah thats only 1.25" rear. Not sure what else Truxxx offers. From what I've seen this appears to be the only size available.

As far as handling goes I think it soaks up the bumps on road alot better. It does feel a little more top heavy going into turns and roundabouts

so do you recommend anyone going in for it.. had a word with Ben Mabey from roadbulley-offroad and they do a 2.5" front and a 2" rear life. this world look really mean but given to know the explorer's history of going turtle..am a bit skeptical on doing this sort of life. besides truxx freight charges are a lot more lesser than roadbully-offroad..a whole 130USD which is almost half the price of the actual product...all decisions
Is it easy to install - bolt on or need to call in the mad scientist ??

Personally I prefer my X with the lift.I think if you drive safely especially when cornering your X wont go "turtle" on you as you mentioned.

As far as cost is concerned, yes, freight charges are alot to Dubai regardless of which lift you choose. And once my lift arrived UPS called me and told me there was an additional charge (TAX) that had to be paid on the item.

Installing is very straight forward. It is simply installed on top of the existing strut. My advice is take it to a reputable garage I paid 800Dhs to get it installed. Once you get new tires get a wheel alignment done too.

Good luck.

Here's mine.....Truxxx lift and Goodyear Wrangler AT Extreme 275/70/17's......

Looks great! 5 stars.

Any rubbing with 275/70? The inner sidewall of my 265/70 seems pretty close to the upper arms of the front suspension.

Thanks!

It does rub a little. I haven't had a chance to look at it closely though. However, it seems to be happening at either full turn or while in reverse. It may be something where I can mold the fenderwell out of the way..?..or get wheel spacers if not..?..

lift is great , tires make it even better, got rid of the BFGs crappy tires , now with the YOKOs GEO Landers

Hi Dusk. Where did u get your skid plates from. I cracked my radiator twice. I really need some lift and a skid plate to protect that huge radiator.
By the way has anyone done a independent radiator mod (independent radiator and separate transmission cooler )

Yeah I noticed that it still looks OEM with nose down. Didnt take any measurements :) haha regretting that a little now. Heres another picture of the car after spacers were installed.

hi there. Just wondering if you had any issues with hitting the radiator while going offroad ?

I just installed my Truxxx lift in about 3 hours. I ordered it here: http://www.tirerack.com/suspension/truxxx/index.jsp And $20 for 2 day shipping to AK. I like the lift so far and it is needed since I hydrolocked my X in less than 2 feet of water this weekend! I would be cautious about going any bigger than the truxxx lift. The stress on the ball joints and cv's is already bad.

does anybod know if the strut and suspention system on the explorer is the same on an 06 mountaineer? i really want to lift mine but nobody really makes one

How much do you think a shop would charge to install this...if I ordered the kit and brought it to them?

And anyone know any good shops in MD that would do it?

I can not say for sure but I have never seen a suspension difference between the 2.

can anyone give me a price on a shop installation...average cost if I brought them the kit?

The stress on the ball joints and cv's is already bad.

Just how bad of a stress is that? I love the look, it's not too much but noticeable, but if I'm going to end up with major work/repair, well, I may forgo the lift and just stick to slightly larger tires...
