Do a search for interior lights or something like that. I seem to remember someone having blue interior lights and telling how they did it. I just can't remember who and when they posted it. A search should do the trick. Good Luck.

You can just buy them at alot of auto stores...I know discount auto parts sells them...They do fade after a while though so you have to replace them, but at like $2 I guess its worth it...

sell you my used ones :) Pep Boys has cheap ass blue bulbs for 2.00 but the blue fades in no time or you could spend about 12.00 bucks on a pair at a performance place which last a long time. by the way the paint will just burn off.

Hey Brook, go to an office supply store, and find one of those blue plastic report covers. It takes a little creative cutting, but fit/tape that inside the lens, and you will have a blue light that never fades. I did that to two of my interior lights with red, and haven't had to worry about a faded bulb in almost 3 years now.

i have red colored interior dome lights,
i did it the cheap way and they actually havnt faded, i took a red sharpie marker and just colored it, let it dry and then colored it with one more coat and walla put the bulbs back in and they havent faded after a year. Thats the cheap way and it still lasts. just make sure you let em dry before you put them in or youll get your finger prints all over them adn not to mention your fingers will change colors! lol

Just curious, why do you want to color the bulbs? Doesn't that reduce the light output?

Thanks in advance....

Bob's Ride

go to (dead link) thats Monochromus's website, he tells you how we finally got blue dome lights, he's tried several different methods, and tells you the one that works best.

i see i am not forgotten!! my dome lights are blue now, and i tried many method, including the blue bulb thing, but the one thing that worked out was stained glass spray paint i picked up at ACE hardware for about $3 and painted the lenses, it works the best. there are some pictures on my website if you want to see how it came out. let me know if you have any more questions

Don't forget Gel Sheets. You can get these online, or at places that sell stuff for musicals and stuff. These are the sheets that go over the lights that make them different colors.

First off, its a very cheep way to color you dome lights. One sheet costs about 5 bucks, and is like 2.5 feet by 2.5 feet...so in other words, you will have PLENTY to work with.

Secondly, if the sheets can withstand the heat from those massive lights, you can be sure as hell they will withstand the heat from your dome lights. I have green and purple gel sheets over my dome lights in my explorer...looks cool

i tried to put like purple film wrapping paper over my dome lights, but that quickly bufned up and faded quick. i hear those piaa t-6 lights are hid looking blue and are super bright for dome lights, and of you guys ever use them?

lue lights...

I did it the cheap way too and it tuned out really nice. i used model paint and painted the refletive silver stuff around the bulb and also the inside of the plastic lenz. it took about 3 coats but the result is rad
