1999 FORD EXPLORER SPORT
Hello, I am new on this site. To start out, I do a quick introduction of my 100% custom built explorer. It is a 1999 explorer sport 2 door, originaly came with the 5R55E tranny. V6 OHV

Sadly the tranny **** out on me a year ago. Now I was only 18 then, 19 now. Got an idea that I wanna make my own truck, Turbo.

The 1992 in my title is due to the fact that I had to go back to that year to find a running explorer that came factory with the manual tranny. I am a manual tranny fan, hate them automatics.

So as of now, my truck system management is OBD 1. M5OD tranny, custom built transfercase that is always in 4x4.

I will get pics on here of the beast soon. I did the custom paint job myself.
Plan to hit 400-500 rwhp by the end of july of 2011.

As of now motor specs.
Wiseco forged pistons, comp cams, stainless valves, hardened pushrods, polished crank, stage 4 spec clutch kit, tranny rebuilt by me, polyurathane bushing kit, monroe high performance shocks.

Will be adding more info on here as my build finnishes up.

If anybody has any questions on doing something like this, feel free to ask. :us:

Lol, eazy enough.

And my turbo choice I settled on was the Garrett GT40. Seeing the V6 4.0L ohv hits peak hp and torque all between 2750-4200rpm. The big turbo will spool up to full boost by 4000rpm. Which I think should get er done.

There are only 3 things left to buy to get the turbo spoolin.

1. Intercooler
2. 60mm external wastegate
3. Engine management system - I have be thinking of getting an AEM F/IC 6 piggyback. Has anybody had any experience with them?
