Yesterday for my 19th birthday i went to Busch Gardens with a bunch of friends and i drove my explorer and my friend drove her 1993 ex. On the way there i noticed that when i went to put on my turn signal sometimes it would just make this buzzing noise and as soon as it did that i would take it off and then when i put it back on it would work like normal. This problem seems to have started yesterday and does it whenever it feels like it, very random. Also i had the most trouble keeping up with her on the highways, Shes the type that likes to make good time so we end up going 80 in a 55. So i thought with mine being a 98 and having the 4.0 SOHC i would have no problem I had to resort to turning the air conditioning off. Is mine just getting old or what?

Was the buzzing coming from the steering column? If so, your multifunction switch is dirty or failing. If not, you need a new flasher relay.

As for the performance, your SOHC definately should be able to keep up with a 93 OHV. Has yours been well maintained (oil and fluid changes, plugs, wires, etc)? First thing I would do is clean your MAS.

buzzing turn signal thread

Mine still has the problem, its still intermittent, but I'm too lazy to fix it until it gets worse. Only happens on left turns on mine.

Ditto with Dogfriends! Only left and only sometimes.

Ditto with my 96 XLT.

Done a tuneup lately?? How many people/weight were you carrying compared to her? She have a Sport?

Same, only left and only sometimes

Yeah, now that you say that it only happens when i put on my left turn signal.

Yeah i keep very good care of my baby. I change the oil every 2,000 miles. Maybe i don't know what a tune up is.......plugs and wires stuff like that?? and if it is i haven't yet i have done.

brakes
flush trans
new gas and air filters
shocks
new tensioner pulley
belt
flushed radiator/new anti-freeze
