Had a recurring problem with my 92 XLT. On a regular basis, the turn signal fuses would blow and intermittantly the turn signal bulbs were blowing. A replaced fuse would last a day or so and then blow. Replacing the fuse would show a burned out light bulb, hardly ever the same one each time.
Of course this was driving me nuts. I traced all the wires, figuring a short somewhere but couldn't find a problem. Finally, our of desperation, I changed the blinker controller on the fuse box. On my explorer it was the cylinderical blue plastic thing in the corner of the fuse box.
Guess what? no more problem. Never had one go bad before but since this was more than likely the original, it doesn't surprize me.
