Hey, I finally got fed up with the chime that rings when the keys are in the ignition and the driver's door is open. Is there anyway of turning it off for a '92 X?

There is an electronic module below the area where the cigarette lighter is. You can just unplug it and it will stop. I took mine out a long time ago, it's so annoying! :)

Unstead of removing the entire chime, I just found the wire from the key and cut it. That way the chime still works with the head lights. All you have to do to find the chime is open the door with the key in the ignition, then crawl under the dash and listen for where the sound is comming from. You can just unplug the connector or do as I did.

Would this be the same fix for my 95'? I hate that damn chime and really want to get rid of it.

The annoying chime comes on when the key closes a litte switch located into the ignition lock. The wire is a black one that emerges from the ignition lock so cut it and the job is done.
In better than disconnect the module, because if you do so the light on reminder chime becomes off too.
