Tweeter locations...

i'll admit that having stuff in the way can hurt the imaging (like legs), but some of those are way to close to the driver and i'd think they would sound awful unless you using a time delay somewhere in your system. you want to have them a little further from you so that the % difference between the closer one and the further one isn't so great.

here are two pics of mine- one is the carpeted first mock up, the other is my newest work in progress.

one other thing- my screen took the place of the heater vent in the dash. to solve the problem i used heat wrap tape and just taped it sealed as far up there as i could reach. it works very very well. if you want to use the heat ducts you could try the same.

Since I have a sport-the 2 door models I put them on the the door handle console with all the extra room from lack of controls

I just mounted mine next to the stock location under the door panel with surface mount cups rotated up. Sound pretty good. Use some self tappers and you're set.

Mine sound beautiful. And I'm MECP certified so I do know what I'm talking about.

i am most definitely not certified, and never will be. I do clean up installs (to put it mildly) done by certified installers all of the time. not to say that being certified is bad, it just doesn't necessarily mean you do a good job. I'm not saying you don't know what your doing though just pointing out that a lot of ceritified people do awful work.

i trust that you know what your doing if you say you do:)

i like chadb's idea actually- that would be simple but pretty good imaging. i'd expect it would be better than some things others have done that were much harder.

yeah, they understand whats going on. i'm a talented installer who is 1st and foremost a college student, 2nd a athlete, 3rd interested in my own truck, and 4th doing some stuff for them to make extra $$.

frankly i think thats an advantage- most people who are willing to make a career of installing (and take the pay that goes along with it) aren't the smartest. of course there are exceptions so don't take that the wrong way either.

Oh I understand. I felt sorry for my co-workers that were taking the MECP test for their 3rd time and couldn't pass it, and I come in pass it with no problems. It really was just simple logic and a basic understanding of math. But as for custom installs, thats just a learned skill. Our shop (Crutchfield) just wanted everyone to be certified (so they could hang the plaques on the wall)

Hokie, You work for Crutchfields???

I bought some stuff from them.... really nice place. Just prices are a tad high. :(

All I know is whoever installed the system in my Nissan is a friggin moron..... They left a 75lb subbox unsecured in my trunk and it shattered the plastic pieces holding the cap to the trunk floor......guess who will be replacing that for free....and I am glad they didnt get a chance to put the CD changer back there or it would have been destroyed too....

Maybe I should come visit you and let you install it ;) ha ha ha yeah right.... 10 hours for you to install it.... maybe not ;)

My good friend does all his own installs and stuff and he is 10X better than the people I paid to install my stereo. I am going to have the same people move the stereo to the X (for warranty purposes).... BUT BUT BUT... I am going to tell them where to put everything.... and how I want it installed. If they dont like it oh well. And if it isnt done the way I wanted it. They can pay to fix it and put it where I wanted it. Cause remember.....the customer is ALWAYS RIGHT....

ok sorry.... quick Q - Can someone explain in laymen's terms what chadb did with his....tweeters?
